the only thing i like about it is the fading in the taskbar, like kastoob mentioned. otherwise - just no. maybe if you have some kind of monster resolution, with a small one it just looks too cluttered imo
hehe.. yeah it's not as aesthetic as I would have hoped, but I don't care anymore. It's extremely functional, I can script every aspect of anything (unlike GNOME where I had to first be stuck with what the devels decided was the One True Desktop, and then there was absolutely no configuration possible, or any *real* scripting support, except for devilspie, which is a joke really), and I get to use Krita, KDevelop, and Kate for all my webdev stuff.
Don't blame you, I was there just a few months ago. *box still pwns face, KDE is just nice on nix because there's very little configuration needed for lazyboy's like me, it looks good, and it's uber-functional.
I'm just curious, is it possible to have a double height taskbar/panel in KDE? By that I mean tasks stacking both horizontally and vertically. example: [link]
sure, KDE was one of the first DE's to have that functionality. On 4.x, just right-click the taskbar plasmoid, settings, and make sure rows is set to 2. Now when you have >5 tasks, you'll get two rows.
EEWW, KDE!

good ss
I'm a fan of the boxy look so i don't entirely approve.
Still its very interesting especially the fade effects in the taskbar.
